Fr. Murphy AC was formed in 1970 from the amalgamation of
several smaller local clubs.
The Club moved quickly to secure premises and acquired a long lease on a recently decommissioned school building in Frayne, near Athboy. Shortly after, a 17-acre field adjacent to the school became available, and after much effort and fund-raising by club members and locals the field was secured from the Land Commission.
The field now sports a 400-metre grass running track, a 1 Km walking/jogging all weather track and a purpose-built hammer cage.
Indoor facilities provided include a weight lifting shed, indoor long jump and high jump facilities.
Club Juvenile Training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 8pm to 9pm.
