Help Wanted
With the increase in numbers attending juvenile training it is becoming impossible to manage the training sessions effectively. We urgently require volunteers to help out. No experience is required, just loads of enthusiasm.
If we don’t get the help we will have to restrict the numbers attending, and that is a situation we do not want to see happen. It is nearly impossible to run a training session with over 30 juveniles with only 2 coaches.
All athletes should now be registered, unless they are still in their orientation period. Please see Philip Cogavin or Paul Farrell for a registration form.
Fund-raiser
The Club will be organising a collection of used clothes and textiles on Thursday 12th May. Any clothes that can be reused will be and the rest will be recycled. None of it will go to waste. Material for the collection can be brought to the Club any training night between now and then. This is a golden opportunity to finally do that clear out of the wardrobes that you have always promised yourself!! Please bring the material in strong plastic bags. We will also be collecting old mobile phones. The Club will receive a payment for all the material gathered. This, along with the Road Race on 17th March, is the only fund-raiser we will hold during the year.
Recent Events
National Juvenile Indoors Track & Field Championships
Marc Shelly and Amber McGourty both competed in the recent All-Ireland finals. Marc finished in 9th place in the Boys Under 13 Long Jump. He missed out on qualification for the final rounds by only 1cm. Amber finished joint 5th in the Girls Under 17 High Jump with a jump of 1.40m. She also jumped a new personal best in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.13m when coming 11th in that competition.
5 Mile Road Race and Meath Road Race Championships
This event, held on St. Patricks Day, in and around Kildalkey, was the most successful for the Club to date. We had over 180 runners taking part, over a new, flat and fast course. A sincere thanks to all who helped out, before the event and on the day, and to the residents along the course.
Dunboyne 4 Mile
Congratulations to Laura Farrell, 3rd Junior Women at the Dunboyne 4 Mile Road Race on Sunday 27th March. There was also a good turnout of senior athletes for what was a good day’s racing.
Meath Hill Running Championships
Congratulations to Sharon Monaghan, 2nd Senior Women in the Meath Hill Running Championships held in Mullaghmeen on Sunday 3rd April. Well done also to all the other club athletes who took part in this demanding event.
